“Fantastic Plants and Where To Find Them”

I’m a Harry Potter fan through and through.  I’m just finishing listening to the entire series on Audible for the umpteenth time.  Admittedly, I was one of those people that either preordered each book as it came out or stood in line at midnight on the day of the release waiting in eager anticipation to see where J.K Rowling was taking the story.  I’m sure that this epic tale of the struggle between good and evil, friendship, fabulous characters and adventures has been important for many of you as well.  The fantastic world of Harry Potter has been affecting our cultural zeitgeist since Rowling introduced the debut novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997.  The publishers decided that American children may not understand the term “Philosopher’s”, so the title was changed to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone for the US edition.  The books have now been published in 67 languages, including Latin and Ancient Greek, though perhaps only botanists and historians are the only ones reading these two translations.  Personally, I’m holding out for the Klingon version, however I may have quite a wait.

In 2001, Rowling wrote a companion book to the series called “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.  It was not until 2016 that Warner Bros released a film adaptation, giving excited Potter fans another story to devour.  A sequel, Fantastic Beasts 2 is scheduled for release in November 2018, Starring Johnny Depp as Galette Grindelwald, and Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore.  Three addition sequels are planned beyond that.

‘Fantastic Plants and Where to Find Them’ is an ongoing work of Little Prince of Oregon Nursery!  Don’t get excited about the prospect of buying Gillyweed or Venomous Tentacula from us, but the list of FANTASTIC plants offered by Little Prince is astounding and growing.  I devoted time last week talking about our new Arctostaphylos cultivars.  If you missed that, click here to read it and other previous newsletters archived on our website.  We’ll be introducing over 100 new varieties next year, including new Sempervivums, some Rex Begonias, Beesia, Eryngium, new Ferns, and much more.  I’ll keep you posted as they become available.  Check out this week’s availability which includes hundreds of varieties that are available right now.  Whether your stocking a garden center or a landscape designer or contractor, we have FANTASTIC plants, and you KNOW where to find us!

Finally, we are beginning another construction project here at Little Prince.  We are adding on to our shipping area to increase our efficiency and ultimately serve you better.  We’re also adding a new break room for our amazing production crew.  Ryan and I will be building this ourselves and we’re excited to get going on it next week.  Don’t worry though, we’ll still be keeping up with everything else we do around here.  Thank goodness, we have a time-turner to give us a few extra hours every day!

Cheers,

Mark
