I’ve just returned today from the NNBA Fall Convention and Trade Show, which was held at the Little Creek Casino in Shelton, Washington. The Northwest Nursery Buyers Association is a member owned cooperative located in the pacific northwest. It represents independent retail nurseries and garden centers in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and northern California. The cooperative assists members by coordinating group purchasing, providing central billing functions and providing educational opportunities for its member retailers. I enjoyed representing Little Prince at this fun event, and it was nice to see so many familiar faces. Little Creek Casino proved to be an incredible location for this event. The Trade Show venue was perfect for this type and size of event. The food provided by the casino was wonderful, especially the Beef Wellington served at the banquet last night!
I’m not a big gambler. The inherent risks of any type of agriculture have always been enough of a gamble for me. However, while walking through the casino on the way to the bar, (clever design move, btw) with all those flashing lights and bells and whistles, I suddenly found myself sitting down at a video poker game. I used restraint and only shoved a crisp Lincoln into the slot. As I played the first few games, the words of the U2 song “Every Breaking Wave” came to mind. “Every breaking wave on the shore tells the next one there’ll be one more, and every gambler knows that to lose is what you’re really there for.” I actually got ahead for a bit, then slowly watched my credits dwindle away until that all too familiar “Game Over” flashed across the screen. Alas, lady luck just wasn’t by my side that night.
At Little Prince, we’ve taken the gamble out of ordering plants. You know that when you order from us, we’ll deliver the highest quality plants available, backed by the most informative and eye-catching tags in the industry. As Maria Zampini wrote about us in Nursery Management Magazine in 2016, “If one were a betting man, placing a wager on the crowned frog and Little Prince of Oregon Nursery is a risk worth considering, as they seem to have the complete package – quality production, customer service, and a niche market with a pulse on the future”.
We look forward to your orders this week. There are still gardeners out there who will expect to find beautiful plants on your shelves over the next month. I’ve pictured many varieties appropriate for fall container planting. We also have a great collection of LiveTrends™ planters that I’ve pictured today. Please order the LiveTrends™ items in multiples of 12. Supply is limited, so order soon to make sure we still have what you want.
There is still time to sign up for our spectacular Ghostly Gala next Friday night the 27th of October. This is a fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and we can accommodate another 80 to 90 guests. We would LOVE it if you could join us for an evening of fun, food and friends! There is no cost to attend. If you choose to bid on auction items like Blazer box seats, Nike gear, amazing plant collections donated by Bizon Nursery, Simnitt Nursery and Bountiful Farms Nursery, or beautiful iron creations donated by Don Sprague Sales, we thank you for contributing to a worthy cause.
