The Top of the World…

I’ve given a lot of thought to 2017, now that it’s been relegated to the history books.  Instead of a detailed analysis of the ups and downs, successes and challenges of days gone by, I’ll summarize the year with a Haiku poem.  So here are my 17 syllables of reflection.

A cold rainy Spring

May sunshine delighted us

Thank you all so much!

2018 has started with a bang.  We are adding on to our shipping area to increase efficiency and make our order fulfillment even faster.  That project is keeping me very busy, and I apologize for being lax in getting newsletters published over the past month.  Normally they will still come out on Wednesday afternoon, along with a freshly updated availability.

We have some lofty goals for 2018!  One of them will be achieved in just a little over a week.  In 1962, President Kennedy boldly proclaimed that within the decade, the United States would send men to the moon and bring them safely home.  In July of 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin achieved that goal.  The moon may be too big of a journey for us at Little Prince, but we believe we can send a man to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest point in Africa at 19,341 feet above sea level.  Ryan set off this morning to achieve that goal, and plant a crowned frog flag on the roof of the African continent.  His journey up the mountain will take 6 days, passing from tropical rain forests up into altitudes where the oxygen levels will make breathing difficult.  He’s in great shape and has been training for the climb for months, so he’ll make the climb with ease.  You can look forward to pictures in the coming weeks, and if you follow our Facebook page, I’ll be posting updates over the next two weeks.

We are introducing over 100 new plants into production during the coming year.  We’ve got Beesia 1 gallons, Podophyllum ‘Spotty Dotty’ 1 gallons, and a new gallon perennial program just to name a few.  Over the next month, I’ll tell you about each new addition to our already stellar lineup of plants.  Our Chick Charms® liners are ready for sale now too, so don’t miss out on those.  They will go fast!  Besides the Chick Charms® varieties, we have many other new cultivars of Sempervivums to offer this year.  We have well over 100 varieties in production or in trials during 2018.  ‘Dea’ and ‘Lilac Time’ are still my favorites.  Stay tuned in for updates on new varieties from Little Prince in the coming year.

Have a wonderful week!

Cheers,

Mark
