“No matter who you are, no matter what you did, no matter where you’ve come from, you can always change, become a better version of yourself.”― Madonna
I have a confession. I like to watch TV. I crave good stories and relish letting my mind get swept away into an adventure. I also love reading for the same reason, though as I’ve mentioned before, reading has become more “listening” over the past years. Thanks to Audible, the thousand or so miles a week I put on my car are not spent idly, they are filled with wonderful stories. Right now it’s The Last Kingdom, by Bernard Cornwell, which is a series of 12 books about ninth-century England and the struggle to remain “England” in the face of invasion by the Danes. Netflix has a series based on the books which I really like. If you like Game of Thrones, you’ll like The Last Kingdom.
I’m also watching Downton Abbey again, some of it for the first time. One of the remarkable things about watching shows or reading books about other time periods is that you’re constantly being reminded that “The times, they are a changin.” Bob Dylan really hit the nail on the head back in 1964 when he sang “Come senators, congressmen, please heed the call. Don’t stand in the doorway. Don’t block the hall. For he who gets hurt will be he who has stalled. There’s a battle outside and it’s ragin’. It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls. For the times they are a changin’”.
Another series I once watched faithfully was Monk, starring Tony Shalhoub, who played the obsessive compulsive detective Adrian Monk. Monk’s philosophy and the world he created for himself was centered firmly on the unflinchingly ridged rule “NEVER CHANGE ANYTHING, EVER.” Fortunately for all of you, that’s not how we roll at Little Prince! Maybe the Material Girl said it best. “No matter who you are, no matter what you did, no matter where you’ve come from, you can always change, become a better version of yourself”.
At Little Prince, we are always striving to become a better version of ourselves. We are constantly in a state of becoming. You may not know this, but many of you are helping to steer the changes we’re implementing through your thoughtful comments and ideas. 2019 will represent a great leap forward in new and innovative products, like the air-plant displays I’ve pictured today, or the houseplant line we’ll be rolling out this summer and fall. We’ve got some really cool houseplants ready right now in our eco-friendly, decorative rice-hull pots. They’ll make wonderful Valentines gifts for that special someone in people’s lives! Check out the pictures of these beautiful planters!
Another new dimension to our current availability is our new HOT SHEET. To get to it, just open our Garden Center availability and keep scrolling to the end, and presto, there it is! Joan has attached some cute pictures of new products and pictures of plants that are just looking too amazing to pass up right now.
With the beautiful weather we’ve been having in the Pacific Northwest, we’ve been shipping at a brisk pace already. I’m so glad I don’t live in the upper Midwest right now. I went to college in Northern Indiana, so I know what it’s like. The coldest temperatures I remember were two days in a row of -34 F, with a wind chill of below -60. That, my friends, is COLD! Hope you can have a sunny and warm week!
