Description
Drimys lanceolata is a dense evergreen shrub with distinctive red stems. Round clusters of fragrant white flowers are followed by shiny black fruit. The small, oval, glossy green foliage has a peppery taste, which gives this shrub the nickname Pepper Tree.
Plant in well-drained soil with average water. Occasionally prune the tips to maintain form. Well suited to mixed borders, foundation plantings and low hedges. Prefers sheltered spots in cooler climates.
